Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know the paintings are original?
You'll just have to take my word for it as the only way to check them now is to take them out of the frames, but I can assure you they are. See the guarantee.

What are original paintings?
They are paintings that have been painted by the artist using brushes and paint on art paper or card.

What is a print?
It is a mechanically produced picture, generally controlled by the artist using the original as a base. Some prints are done under supervision in limited editions and signed and numbered by the artist. You may find them in Modern Artworks, but not the other three subdivisions of this website.
I've heard of reproductions. Are they potentially valuable artworks?
No. In my opinion they are not even artworks at all.
What is the cost of shipping?
It depends on the weight of the picture, glass, frame and packing plus the distance it is going. Insurance must also be taken into account but is not very expensive as most freight companies back themselves not to lose the item. Until 31st December 2006 I am going to cover all shipping costs within Australia so I can become conversant with them. For overseas I will be looking for the best and cheapest way. Overseas buyers will of course receive a shipping co. receipt.

How long will it take to ship my painting?
The freight co. would know more about that than me, but I will endeavour to have it ready to go by the time your payment is cleared.
If these paintings are part or all of your collection, why are you selling them?
I've been collecting them for 40 years, and art has been my life. I am also a framer.

Are they all on the yestergallery website now?
No.
How many more have you got?
I still have quite a large collection. I bought the first one at auction in 1963 and have been on the hunt ever since. I still have it and can't really see a time when I won't be searching for my next exciting purchase. Once a hunter and gatherer always a hunter and gatherer.

Is there anyway the local and overseas shipping costs can be made cheaper?
Yes. I can remove the glass and frame which are quite heavy, and send  the picture between two sheets of 3 ply and cardboard. It will be cheaper for you, but you will then have the extra problem and cost of reframing at your end. Might be cheaper in the long run to accept the whole package. I'll find out.
How can I tell the total size of my picture including frame?
Add about 300mm {1foot} to the vertical and horizontal measurements of the image.

Why are the prices so different?
Some are large and some are small. Artist's have reputations and some demand, so their work may be scarce. Quality of frame and painting may be important. The Law of Supply and Demand operates.

YesterGallery is now also open at Mittagong Antiques Centre
